lyrics

All Hallows' Eve
By Jeff Johnson
Inspired by the novel by Charles Williams

The telephone rang,
She called out his name.
But he'd never listened,
So why should he now,
When the telephone rang?
They'd both long forgotten,
The promises made at the start of the road,
'Till the telephone rang.

"All Hallows' Eve, All Hallows' Eve, All Hallows' Eve's upon us."

Long, long ago, as the fairy tales go,
They gave up their lives to be one,
In ceremony at a great big old church,
Where nobody had any fun.

But as the years passed and society amassed,
Their love had begun to decay.
At first it was slow, but it slowly gained speed,
Until everything seemed to be falling apart,
And there didn't appear to be anything possible,
Until she called up –

And the telephone rang.
"We've got to get out of here,
Or we will regret that we didn't confess,
That the telephone rang."

The telephone rang.
"We've got to stop now or we'll never believe,
That the telephone rang."

"All Hallows' Eve, All Hallows' Eve, All Hallows' Eve's upon us."
