I wrote this simple prayer chant while working on Orcas Island, Washington one morning in early 2013. I recorded a version then but this take is from my sessions at Laity Lodge in September 2013. It ties in well with the lyric of the opening song, “Jesus, Here’s My Heart.” We do well when we begin our days offering our hearts to him who is described as the bright morning star (Revelation 22).

The connected instrumental, “Angel Of The Dawn,” first appeared on my “A Thin Silence” CD released in 2006. Wendy and I often perform this piece as you hear it here and I had decided fairly early on to link it with the “Lord, I Lift Up My Heart” chant.
